Rapid turnaround time accelerates studies of large and complex biosynthetic pathways

Biosynthetic pathways are important for natural product discovery but pose significant challenges for traditional cloning due to their large size, complex sequence architecture, and high GC content. To provide more streamlined and rapid access to long and complex constructs, Elegen has launched ENFINIA™ Plasmid DNA, overcoming many of those challenges.

In this new app note, we demonstrate the advantages of ENFINIA Plasmid DNA using the β-carotene and lycopene biosynthetic pathways to assemble and clone complex sequences (up to 15 kb) in low- and high-copy vectors. Functional expression in E. coli was confirmed through visible carotenoid production, underscoring the advantages of using ENFINIA Plasmid DNA to accelerate biosynthetic pathways characterization, natural products research, and metabolic engineering.
